MUMBAI: A K Purwar, Chairman, India Ventures Advisors, says rural investment is positive for the economy.
He said all expenditure programmes are not sustainable in the short term.
The government, Purwar said, should focus on self-help group programmes.
“Thanks to whatever was done in the last 2-5y year, we succeeded in having a very reasonable growth of 6%. Rural demand has driven this growth and I think they have taken it forward. They are putting money in the hands of the rural poor, which will consume most of this money. This will push growth rate without any global impact,” Purwar said.
“This Budget will help us maintain a 6-7% growth, may be 7.5%. But we are looking at 8-9% growth rate... the most important bottleneck the economy is facing today is the kind of infrastructure that we have,” he said.
