HDFC, Birla Sun Life lead CRISIL ranks

MUMBAI: HDFC Mutual Fund and Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund jointly emerged as the fund houses with the highest number of CRISIL CPR 1 ranks.

While HDFC Mutual Fund bagged nine CRISIL CPR 1 ranks as compared to seven in the previous quarter; Birla Sun Life Mutual fund saw its tally jump to nine CRISIL CPR 1 ranks from five a quarter ago.

HDFC Mutual Fund bagged four CRISIL CPR 1 ranks under equity oriented funds and five CRISIL CPR 1 ranks under the liquid, monthly income plans (MIP) and ultra short term categories.

In the case of Birla Sun Life Mutual, eight of the nine CRISIL CPR 1 schemes were debt oriented.

CICI Prudential Mutual Fund and Reliance Mutual Fund followed closely with eight CRISIL CPR 1 ranks each, followed by UTI Mutual Fund with six and DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund with five CRISIL CPR 1 ranks.

The CRISIL CPR framework provides a single-point, overall ranking based on all factors that are important to consider while evaluating a mutual fund’s performance such as risk adjusted returns, asset concentration, liquidity and asset quality and asset size.
