MUMBAI: The Rs. 1,600-crore 'Project Parivartan', undertaken by Indraprastha Power Generation Company Limited (IPGCL) and Pragati Power Corporation Limited (PPCL), is now complete with the implementation of SAP for Utilities solutions.

The project, which took seven months to complete, involved integrating nine core business processes through a suite of applications, with business support and analytical software. The project is expected to provide Delhi with surplus power.

Currently, the output is pegged at 5075 MW and the demand for power is on the rise. The SAP solution was implemented over the existing software systems so as to increase its efficiency. The end-to-end transformation involved deployment of centralised enterprise applications solution across all its existing and upcoming power plants.

Since the solutions are based on a single platform, IPGCL and PPCL are confident that this move will streamline business processes. It is also expected to aid business diversifications in areas such as power trading and coal mining. Another advantage that the power plants have cited is the fact that the platforms allow for scalability and interoperability, thereby reducing total cost of ownership.

Delhi's power plants will now be able to maximise power generation capacity and provide higher standards of plant operation.

SAP for Utilities solutions are designed to provide support for the management of water, power, gas and electricity for the private as well as public sectors. The solutions will help companies access relevant data faster and improve their business insight both of which affect operations.
