Ruthless selling continued across the globe for yet another week. Last week we mentioned that a break below 3,650 levels on the Nifty could drag it lower to 3,300 levels. The pace of the fall has surprised everyone. While some think that the market has bottomed out, we believe otherwise. Momentum indicators of Nifty indicate that the market is yet to make a bottom in the near term. With sustained selling by FIIs, stocks like ITC, Hindustan Unilever, Bharti Airtel, HDFC, HDFC Bank, L&T, Reliance Industries and Sun Pharma are likely to lead the next and probably the last fall. The structural uptrend that began in May 2003 at Nifty 930 ended with the January peak of 6,357. Since then, the Nifty has seen a relentless fall. This has resulted in a retracement of more than 50% gains since the start of the bull run. Analyzing the monthly chart, a fall to 3,000 levels seems probable. This will be a 61.8% Fibonacci retracement from the January peak. Historically, the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level has played a key role in determining the market's direction, as it typically signals a turnaround in a trend. History could repeat itself here. But, then again, this time it could be different since US is facing a once in a century crisis. Overall, at around 3,000 Nifty, the market should be close to the bottom. Global trends remain weak The global credit crisis has entered a very conclusive phase with bankruptcies, nationalization and acquisition of various large financial institutions over the last couple of months. Global central banks have taken urgent monetary actions (cutting rates, guaranteeing deposits, etc) to keep enough liquidity within their respective economies. We are not sure if these initiatives would serve their purpose fully given that apart from home loans and mortgages, credit card debts, student loans and auto loans would further intensify the current crisis. In Europe, we believe that the pain has just begun with Japan and Asia likely to follow suit.] Q2 FY09 results and economic growth indicators holds key The key reasons behind the sustained FII selling in the market apart from increasing risk aversion have been concerns with respect slowdown in economy and corporate earnings growth. On both thefronts, we are likely to face disappointment. Softening demand, high interest rates, unpredictable forex losses and lower other income are likely to depress earnings growth in Q2 FY09. Already, Infosys has started the earnings season on a somber note. We expect a near 10% growth in Sensex earnings in FY09. Recent economic indicators too have not been encouraging to say the least. August IIP growth at 1.3% yoy was far lower than even the pessimistic estimate on the street. Further downgrade in FY10 GDP growth to below 7% is likely. We believe that weakness would continue till Nifty finds some support around 3,000 level. However, a V-shaped recovery is highly unlikely as the buying by insurance companies and mutual funds will not be able to offset the heavy selling by FIIs. GG

Markets falling ha ha ha ha ha Moooo ha ha ha ha ha ha...ROFL The way i look at indian markets is. There is a beggar siting outside you house. He doesn't expects anything from you , But as you are generous and you have some extra cash to spare so u go and give the beggar a 100 rupee note. There is nothing great about that beggar but its just that you have access liquidity on your side and you are throwing it everywhere. The next day again you go to that beggar and now you give him 200 rupees. the beggar is delighted , he thinks there is something special about him so that he is attracting this kind of money. But the facts are very different. Like this you keep on giving that beggar huge amounts of money. Now the beggar has his head up in the air. He thinks he is the " Growth beggar" LOL of the world like we think we are the growth engine ha ha ha ha ha...ROFL. . But as always times change and you run out of your liquidity. You stop giving to that beggar.Now the beggar is in BIG trouble. As you have made him habituate of big big amount so now small amounts hardly matter to him. And as you were giving him regularly so he started having some misconception about himself that he is this and he is that. Earlier even 2 rupees were enough for him { 6000 sensex} But now as you gave him a lot of money { Sensex 21000} so now he has started thinking big like 40,000 or 50,000. Now 10,000 - 11,000 hardly matter to him as he has his head up in the air. He fails to realize that there is nothing which is great about him. He still is the same. the same pathetic infrastructure , The same unemployment rates , the same power and water shortage even in the biggest of cities etc etc etc.Normally if he even gets a 20 rupees or 8000 on index he should consider himself blessed. But he refuses to face the reality.He thinks no , he is different. He is the growth beggar of this universe.He is very L**** , he is the smartest of them all that's why he attracted that sort of money , irrespective of the fact that many small countries or small beggars in his neighborhood also attracted similar amount of money if not more. The sooner the beggar realizes the facts the better it will be as in anticipation of big money the beggar has stopped respecting small money or lower levels on index. And if you don't respect these levels you will even go down sharply from here . so better acknowledge your value or sit back and watch and enjoy . Forget the bull markets and the sharp rallies of the bear markets. Here comes the mother of all bear markets Sell Icici bank Reliance infra Reliance industries All reliance and Tata stocks Metal commodities Telecom infrastructure Target 60 to 80 percent down from current levels. As most of these stocks are in F&o as well , so an intraday wipe out of 90 perecent from current values can also be seen on a down circuit in the markets.{ not on a closing basis}. And remember there is simply no case what so ever for a sharp bounce back as some good people were mentioning LOL. That sort of bounce back can only come when the markets go and test at least 8000 on the sensex as of now. A doubling bounce back from lows can not be played from these levels for sure. The world has changed around us , It simply makes no sense for that. We are not falling in isolation . We still are very exensive compared to our asian peers. The bull run is now over , I repeat Its over . So the sooner we forget the all time highs of scripts the better it is. In these kind of markets hope to buy cheap rather then buying at any point and hoping to sell expensive. For my money the biggest of pull backs now in these markets wont be able to take them past the 15000 to 16000 range and that too is a far far fetched dream an extremly rosy scenario. I will be surprised if that happens rather shocked. The ideal scenario is for the markets to drift to 6000 on bse and then can come back to 12 or 14 thousand. Ganda bacchha Prateek bhatia
