Reddy, DLF chief among Padma awardees

NEW DELHI: Apollo Hospital Group Chairman Prathap Chandra Reddy, K P Singh of real estate major DLF, Hindustan Unilever's M S Banga and Venu Srinivasan of TVS Group are among the captains of industry who have been chosen for the Padma awards this year.
    
Reddy is selected for the second highest civilian award 'Padma Vibhushan' for his "exceptional and distinguished service" in the field of trade and industry, while Leela Group Chairman C P Krishnan Nair, DLF Chairman Kushal Pal Singh and Unilever executive board member Manvinder Singh Banga are named for the 'Padma Bhushan'.
    
Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Y V Reddy has been named for the 'Padma Vibhushan' in the public affairs category. NRI hotelier Sant Singh Chatwal is chosen for the 'Padma Bhushan' in the same category.
    
Former CEO of ICICI Narayanan Vaghul and Vardhaman Group Chairman S P Oswal were also chosen for the 'Padma Bhushan' for their "distinguished service of high order."
    
Moser Baer India Chairman and Managing Director Deepak Puri, Irshad Mirza of Mirza Tanner, TVS Group Chairman Venu Srinivasan, Mohan Meakin's Kapil Mohan and former Satyam board member T N Manoharan were selected for the 'Padma Shri' in trade and industry category.
