DLF, HPCL may see activity on result announcement

  • Net profit of DLF rose 26.04% to Rs 224.43 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 178.06 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008. Sales rose 109.03% to Rs 887.16 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 424.41 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008.

    Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) reported net profit of Rs 31.40 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against net loss of Rs 422.03 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008. Sales declined 5.87% to Rs 27661.93 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 29386.67 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008.

    Tata Steel, BPCL, Jindal Steel & Power, and Cairn India are among the major result announcement on Thursday, 28 January 2010.

    Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) will sign an agreement with the Madhya Pradesh state utility to jointly set up a 1,600 megawatts thermal power plant in the central Indian state. The company did not disclose financial details.

    Wipro signed a multi-year outsourcing deal with British American Tobacco Plc, the world's second-biggest cigarette maker. Wipro will help British American Tobacco's application support services for global business operations, the company said in a statement. Financial details were not disclosed.

    Power Grid Corporation's board gave an in-principle approval for a follow-on public offer of 10% of equity. The board also approved investing Rs 216 crore for a 1,000 megawatt project to be commissioned in 28 months.

    Cholamandalam DBS Finance's board approved raising Rs 400 crore through a private placement of non-convertible debentures.

    The government has reportedly decided to allow companies executing ultra mega power projects to use surplus coal from their captive blocks to fuel their other power projects and other coal-based power projects.

    Karnataka Bank reportedly plans to recruit 500 officers and clerks in the next three months to support expansion of its operations.

    Net profit of Whirlpool of India rose 133.86% to Rs 16.16 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 6.91 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008. Sales rose 24.02% to Rs 570.82 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 460.25 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008.

    Net profit of Nagarjuna Construction Company rose 31.95% to Rs 47.86 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 36.27 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008. Sales rose 16.09% to Rs 1186.54 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 1022.06 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008.

    Net profit of Trent rose 170.19% to Rs 15.86 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 5.87 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008. Sales rose 19.39% to Rs 146.84 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 122.99 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008.

    Hindustan Copper reported net profit of Rs 50.73 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against net loss of Rs 69.15 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008. Sales rose 101.01% to Rs 325.02 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 161.69 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008.

    Net profit of EIH declined 32.88% to Rs 22.33 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 33.27 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008. Sales declined 4.19% to Rs 222.04 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 231.74 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008.

    Net profit of Kansai Nerolac Paints rose 70.78% to Rs 36.29 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 21.25 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008. Sales rose 33.05% to Rs 420.91 crore in the quarter ended December 2009 as against Rs 316.35 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2008.
